廖玉蕙是有名的作家，寫作以散文為主，有大批書迷，出過六十多本書。她也是大學教授，教書教了36年，退休之後她關心社會議題，也參與街頭運動，最近還出了台語有聲書。生活中不同的角色，都是她寫作的泉源，而給人熱情活潑又風趣的廖玉蕙，其實從小到大一直被人際關係困擾著，直到40歲左右，因緣際會大哭一場，才解開這個心結。廖玉蕙說她喜歡講話，所以四處教學演講；她喜歡閱讀，所以持續寫作和書本結緣；她喜歡抱不平，所以提筆在各專欄評論社會議題；她說工作可以跟興趣結合，自己是很幸運的人！她也喜歡和年輕人在一起，感覺就像和時代走在一起。
